Orchestral Series A
Orchestral Series A, traditionally curated by Music Director Emmanuel Villaume, presents a line-up of fresh guest artists, contrasting themes, and above all, musical masterpieces that audiences can experience over eight evenings in the stunning Rudolfinum.
Emmanuel Villaume himself will conduct the orchestra on five occasions. Other conductors taking the podium will include Eugene Tzigane, already familiar to our audience; the exceptional, recently discovered talent Jiří Habart; and, despite his young age, the internationally sought-after Oscar Jockel. Jockel will not only conduct but will also take a seat at the harpsichord to lead the orchestra from there in a performance of music by J.S. Bach.
We can also look forward to excellent soloists: the charismatic Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski; the brilliant young American cellist and prize-winner of the most demanding cello competitions, Brannon Cho; the principal flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic, Emmanuel Pahud; the internationally renowned violinist Vadim Gluzman; the talented violist and recent winner of the Prague Spring International Music Competition, Sào Soulez Larivière; and performing at the final concert of the season, one of the world's most acclaimed pianists, Sir Stephen Hough.
Chamber Series K
In its 32nd season, the Prague Philharmonia's Chamber Series will delve into the theme of folklore, highlighting works and composers inspired by folk themes. The leitmotif thus takes us back to our roots, to folk music, featuring composers such as Leoš Janáček, Jan Vičar, and Antonín Dvořák, while also showcasing international composers like Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, George Enescu, Nikolai Kapustin, and others. The chamber series also traditionally includes composer anniversaries.
In the 2025-2026 season, the most significant anniversaries celebrated will be those of Robert and Clara Schumann, and Dmitri Shostakovich. For performances in the chamber series, we invite both established chamber ensembles featuring members of the Prague Philharmonia, as well as ensembles formed specifically for an evening's programme with our orchestra players.
The Chamber Series will open with the Zemlinsky Quartet, joined by oboist Jan Souček, clarinetist Jindřich Pavliš, and double bassist Adam Honzírek. Throughout the season, the chamber series will also feature the debut performance within this series of the Ševčík Quartet together with pianist Marek Kozák, and the vocal octet Gentlemen Singers. For the final concert in June 2026, the renowned Josef Suk Piano Quartet has accepted our invitation, and they will also perform with players from the Prague Philharmonia orchestra.
