Talent of Prague 5
Discover rising stars as they perform alongside a world-class professional orchestra.
The competition is intended for instrumentalists in the field of classical music, and in the vocal category, for performers of classical and musical theatre repertoire.
What is Talent of Prague 5?
It's your opportunity to shine! This competition celebrates young amateur musicians passionate about quality music. Top performers get the chance to showcase their skills with a renowned professional orchestra. The competition is intended for instrumentalists in the field of classical music, and in the vocal category, for performers of classical and musical theatre repertoire.
The audition for the upcoming 19th edition of the competition will take place on November 25, 2025.
The winning contestants will then perform at the laureates' concert, which will be held on February 4, 2026, at the Bohuslav Martinů Hall, HAMU in Prague.
Who can join?
Are you ready to showcase your musical prowess? You're eligible if:
- You're a student at a music school or with a private music teacher in Prague 5, 13, or 16.
- You live, study, or work in Prague 5, 13, or 16 - even if your music school or teacher is elsewhere.
- You're not from Prague 5, 13, or 16, but you're actively involved in local music groups.
- You want to team up! Duets or larger ensembles are welcome to perform pieces with orchestral accompaniment.
Age limit: 26 years (as of the audition date)
Note: Previous grand champions can return after a 3-year break.
Categories
Category I:
Contestants up to 15 years old
Category II:
Contestants from 15 to 26 years old
Category III:
Students of music conservatories, other higher vocational music schools, or university-level music schools in the special "Exceptional Talent" category.
How to apply

One elementary art school/music school may enter a maximum of four students (the instrument or vocal category is not limited).

Contestants should prepare one to two movements of a concerto for a solo instrument and orchestra, or other concert pieces. In the vocal categories, one to two arias are required.

The instrumentation of the selected piece must comply with the repertoire conditions listed below.

Repertoire guidelines
Choose your piece wisely! Your selected composition should fit within the Prague Philharmonia's orchestra size:
- Strings: 8 first violins, 6 second violins, 5 violas, 4 cellos, 2 double basses
- Woodwinds: 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons
- Brass: 4 French horns, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone
- Percussion: Timpani
Performance Duration: Aim for 5-10 minutes (e.g., one movement of a concerto)
Special Consideration: The jury chairman may grant exceptions to these rules in special cases.
