The Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet was established in 2007 at the initiative of the orchestra's wind section soloists. Its members are laureates of national and international performance competitions and serve as leading players in many other chamber and symphonic ensembles (Czech Philharmonic, Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, National Theater, Baborak Ensemble, and others).
The ensemble has performed at international music festivals including Prague Spring 2017 and Festival dell Arte in Wojanów, Poland, completed a tour of Spain, and recorded for Czech Radio and Czech Television.
Since its founding, the quintet has closely collaborated with the outstanding Czech pianist Ivan Klánský. The Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet's repertoire focuses not only on major compositions written for this formation by composers such as W. A. Mozart, Antonín Rejcha, Darius Milhaud, and Paul Hindemith but also on works by contemporary composers.
