Jiří Ševčík

Born in Prague into a musical family, his mother a flutist and father an oboist supported him as he faced a life-changing dilemma – whether to pursue a career as a footballer or a flutist. He resolved this complex situation with a direct move towards the flute, scoring a goal in life! He graduated from the Teplice Conservatory under his mother's strict supervision and from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague as one of the last students of the legendary flutist Prof. František Čech. He gained further experience in international competitions and chamber music courses, soon applying it in his first engagement with the vocal ensemble Linha Singers.
Since 1994, he has been regularly seen in the position of principal flutist of the Prague Philharmonia, where his tone adorns the wind harmony. He is a member of the Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet, with which he performs both at home and abroad.
However, he doesn't neglect his footballing skills either, enjoying a kick-about alongside celebrities in the AMFORA football club.
He is a sought-after solo and chamber player.
