Jan Brabec

Clarinetist Jan Brabec began his musical studies in Ledeč nad Sázavou under Miroslav Hradecký, graduated from the Teplice Conservatory in Miroslav Maleček's class, and from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Prof. Vlastimil Mareš. During his studies, he participated in several international clarinet masterclasses (Michel Arrignon, Michel Lethiec, Michel Raison), chamber music courses (Maurice Bourgue), and numerous competitions (2nd prize in the Conservatories Competition, 1st prize in the Wind Instruments Competition in Chomutov, Golden Diploma in the Music and Song from Eastern Europe Competition, City of Prague Prize in the Prague Spring Competition 1996, among others).

Since 1997, he has been a member of the Prague Philharmonia orchestra. From 2008 to 2014, he held the position of principal clarinet in the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra. After successfully passing the audition, he became a member of the Czech Philharmonic in 2014. He regularly performs with many chamber ensembles (Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet, Actaeon Trio, Prague Modern, Baborák Ensemble, Czech Sinfonietta, and others).
