The final concert of the International Conducting Courses, co-organised by PKF - Prague Philharmonia for the second time this concert season. This time the courses are under the direction of the Russian conductor Alim Shakh, a representative of the famous St. Petersburg conducting school.
Dvořák, Shostakovich, Beethoven - three great names and unique musical personalities of their time, whose works have been selected for the final concert of the International Conducting Courses.
One of the most famous works featured in the concert is Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony for String Orchestra, which was originally written for string quartet. The Chamber Symphony is officially dedicated to the memory of the victims of fascism and World War II. But Shostakovich himself, in a private letter, described the Symphony as an epitaph to himself. In the basis of the musical motif he put four letters, D.Es.C.H, which stand for his own initials (Д. Ш.).
The audience can also look forward to Antonín Dvořák's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in A minor, performed by the exceptionally talented young Czech violinist Filip Zaykov, who made his debut with master Josef Suk and the PKF - Prague Philharmonia at the age of just ten.
The second half of the concert will feature Beethoven's Second Symphony and the overture Coriolanus.
The concert will be conducted in turn by all 10 conductors, participants of the International Conducting Course, who will work with the orchestra on the repertoire during the course for less than a week under the direction of Maestro Shakh.
The programme is subject to change. Participants are required to provide proof of infection-free status as per current government regulations.
Filip Zaykov (*1997) started playing the violin at the age of five under the guidance of Magdalena Micková and then continued his studies with Jiří Fišer. For a long time he also played the piano under the guidance of Peter Toperczer. He is now a student at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden in the class of Natalia Prishepenko.
Filip Zaykov is a laureate of international competitions both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Jaroslav Kocian International Violin Competition, Concertino Praga, Concours Bravo!, International Violin Competition Kloster Schöntal and Premio Clivis).
He made his debut with the master Josef Suk and the PKF - Prague Philharmonia (then still under the name of the Prague Chamber Philharmonic) at the age of ten with Vivaldi's Concerto in A minor for two violins. As a soloist, he then appeared several times with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK.
As a member of the Trio Incendio, he is a winner of the Giani Bergamo Music Award, the Kiejstut Bacewicz International Competition, the Bohuslav Martinů International Competition, the COOP Music Awards and the Concorso Internazionale Marcello Pontillo, and has also performed at the famous Wigmore Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. The trio is a member of the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy.
