Prague Philharmonia Wins Prestigious Gramophone Award
Prague Philharmonia is delighted to announce that it has received a prestigious award at this year's Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2024 in the vocal-instrumental category for the recording The Great Puccini featuring American tenor Jonathan Tetelman.
"We are immensely proud of this award," says orchestra director Kateřina Kalistová. "It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of all our orchestra members and also to Jonathan Tetelman's great talent. We thank all our fans and supporters for their shown favor."
The album "The Great Puccini" with American tenor Jonathan Tetelman and conductor Carlo Rizzi was recorded by Prague Philharmonia for the prestigious label Deutsche Grammophon in early 2023. The singer pays tribute to Puccini, whose 100th anniversary the music world is celebrating this year. The album features arias from nine operas, including famous ones like "Nessun dorma", "Che gelida manina" or "E lucevan le stelle", but also hidden gems from lesser-known operas such as "Le villi" and "La rondine".
The award was decided by a public vote, choosing from orchestras nominated by editors and reviewers of the British magazine Gramophone based on recordings from the past year.
