Symphony No. 9 in E minor, op. 95, B.178
In the vast repertoire of classical music there are works that almost every music lover, every lover of melancholy, has at home on CD. One of them is Bedřich Smetana's The Moldau. This magnificent symphonic poem is so immensely popular that paradoxically few concert organisers dare to include it in their programmes today.
Cofena decided to include it because - despite all the great recordings on CD - the passionate live performance is so inspiring that only then do you feel that you are practically sailing with the river Vltava (the Moldau).
Another much-loved hit is Antonín Dvořák's masterpiece, the symphony "From the New World".
Twice, therefore, Czech music will be performed by Czech musicians from the PKF - Prague Philharmonia.
In the meantime, the beautiful Piano Concerto no. 2 by Frédéric Chopin will be performed. In whose hands is this music better than in the hands of Bruce Liu, winner of the 2021 International Chopin Competition! Whether it's passages of virtuosic grandeur or melodic moments of melancholy and nostalgia, we always experience pure beauty with Chopin's music!
