The vibrant season will conclude with a concert featuring a South Korean musical marvel — the violinist Bomsori Kim, laureate of the ARD Munich Competition and winner of an incredible number of prizes from the most challenging international violin competitions — the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, Jean Sibelius in Helsinki, Joseph Joachim in Hannover, Henryk Wieniawski in Poznan and international competitions in Montreal and Sendai.

This violinist made debuts at festivals in Lucerne, Rheingau, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, Vienna’s Musikverein, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and at the prestigious La Jolla Music Society’s Rising Star Series. Bomsori Kim, a Juilliard School graduate, has recently signed an exclusive contract with the prestigious label Deutsche Grammophon. She plays the violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini from 1774.

It is well known that Mozart composed advanced compositions at a very early age. But did you know that it was similar to Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy? The Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor that we shall hear was written when he was thirteen years old. However, the work did not become known to the public until the 1950s when it was rediscovered by the violin virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin. Nino Rota, the composer whom we associate today mainly with legendary music for famous Fellini films, started composing at his early age too. The final concert of the Lobkowicz Donor Series will present Rota as a composer of amazing classical music pieces. And if we are talking about the end of the season, completing it with a piece by the immortal master Johann Sebastian Bach is definitely the right choice.
