About the series
In its 30th anniversary concert season the PKF — Prague Philharmonia will present six concerts with exceptional programs within the Contemporary Music Series S. As part of the anniversary celebrations, as of September 2023 the S series will move to a new venue to the place where it first started in the 2004/2005 season — the Švanda Theater in Prague’s district of Smíchov, more specifically in the Švanda Theater Studio, a newly renovated space which promises to be perfect for the S series. The series of six concerts this season will be dedicated to the contemporary Czecho-Slovak generation, contemporary art and the interconnection of genres. The individual concerts will be conceived as portraits of contemporary composers who will be present as guests at the concerts, where they will communicate with the audience and where they may also appear as performers. They are renowned composers, active and working both in the Czech Republic and abroad. At the same time, their work is connected with other genres — film, architecture or opera. Traditionally, the performers will be members of the PKF — Prague Philharmonia and their guests. I believe that the S series in the Studio of the Švanda Theater will further spice up the already flavorsome program of PKF — Prague Philharmonia’s concerts in its 30th anniversary season.
