Roman Hranička studied at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Jindřich Pazdera. He went on to complete postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London with John Glickman. He has participated in numerous masterclasses with distinguished musicians including G. Turchanin, R. Szreder, Z. Bron, K. Wegrzyn, S. Shipps, R. Schmidt, J. Meissl, H. Bayerle, A. Kouyoumdjian, and others.
Between 1992 and 1999, he won two first and two second prizes at the Kocian Violin Competition in Ústí nad Orlicí. He was a semi-finalist at the Wieniawski and Lipiński International Violin Competition in Lublin, Poland. In 1999, as a member of the Snítil Quartet, he became a laureate of the Concertino Praga competition, and in 2003 the quartet was awarded laureate status at the Beethoven’s Hradec competition. In 2017, he won the International Chamber Music Competition in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with the Quasi Trio.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Prague Chamber Philharmonia, Talich Chamber Orchestra, Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, and Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra. His international solo appearances have taken him to Germany, the Netherlands, France, the United States, Japan, Poland, and Ireland.
He is a member of Prague Philharmonia, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, and the FamaQ String Quartet.
