Pavel Klečka began his professional training at the Conservatory in Kroměříž under Professor M. Gajdoš and continued his studies at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno (JAMU) with Professor M. Jelínek. During his studies, he successfully participated in numerous competitions and was, among other distinctions, a prizewinner at the double bass competition in Debrecen.
Since 1994, he has served as Principal Double Bass of Prague Philharmonia, and in 2016 he joined the double bass section of the State Opera Orchestra. Alongside his orchestral career, he is also active as a double bass soloist. In recognition of his solo concert activities and his contribution to promoting the double bass as a solo instrument, he received the Euro Pragensis Ars Award in 2015.
In 1996, he began teaching at the Brno Conservatory, and since 2015 he has continued his teaching career at the Jan Deyl Conservatory in Prague. Many of his former students have gone on to hold positions in leading Czech orchestras. In the 2018 academic year, he received the school’s award for outstanding teaching.
