Iva Středová

She was born in Hradec Králové. In 1996, she began studying the violin at the Na Střezině Music School under Jiřina Štolfová. She took part in numerous music school competitions, consistently achieving excellent results. At the age of twelve, she was selected to join the Primavera String Orchestra under Jaromír Křováček. With the ensemble, she toured extensively throughout Europe, performing in France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Belgium, and twice won first prize at an international orchestra competition.

After completing primary school, she was admitted to the Pardubice Conservatory, where she studied with Ladislav Navrátil. During her studies, she participated in several competitions, including Concertino Praga and the Conservatories Competition. She graduated with a performance of Brahms’s Violin Concerto in D major with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2017, she completed her master’s degree at the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where she studied with Leoš Čepický.

She has been a member of Prague Philharmonia since 2012 and currently serves as Principal Second Violin. Since 2016, she has also been a member of the second violin section of the State Opera Orchestra.
