Special concert
Arsenii Moon – winner of the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition and one of the most compelling young pianists of his generation – appears in a programme that flows like a journey through landscapes both real and imagined.
The evening opens with Mendelssohn’s Hebrides, music inspired by wind and sea.
It continues with Alexey Shor’s Piano Concerto No. 1 – a contemporary work built on transparent textures, lyrical lines and elegant poise. Moon’s sensitive interpretation reveals the inner calm and subtle refinement embedded in the music.
Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye draws the listener into a magical musical fairytale, where where melodic ideas subtly interweave and stories unfold in a whisper.
The evening closes with Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini – a work that shifts back and forth between bright light and shadow, where variation ideas are ignited, evolved and left to fade, leading ultimately to the iconic 18th variation – a moment of luminous stillness.
