The friendship between Johannes Brahms and Antonín Dvořák is one of the best-known and enduring. It was this German pianist, conductor and composer who recommended Dvořák's famous Moravian Duets for publication. The first meeting between the two composers took place in 1879, when Brahms came to Prague to give a concert. In connection with Dvořák, he said, "It would be wonderful if the major ideas that occur to me were like the ones that occur to Dvořák simply in passing."
